Let’s explore what’s in your bathroom cabinets at home as well as those in your kitchen. Do you know what’s in the products you use or where they are even coming from? Unlike the food industry, there are no legal standards for organic or natural personal care products sold in the United States. The FDA doesn’t access the ingredients of personal care products.

If you were tested, you’d be surprised by your body’s toxicity content from everyday chemicals your using like your shampoos, deodorants, and general cleaning products. Even babies today are being born pre-polluted.

There’s a growing body of hazard-based evidence that suggests connections to long-term health concerns like cancer and reproductive problems.

These are just a few examples of thousands of toxic ingredients used in personal care products …

You might expect a product labeled “pure, natural and organic” to be safe but even top-selling brands in the natural products sector have been found to contain 1,4-dioxane, which is known to be a synthetic chemical carcinogen.

So what can we do?

  • Look at labels of food and personal products for words that are hard to pronounce.
  • Grow your own food.
  • Make your own personal care products.
  • Encourage your favorite retailers and manufacturers of natural and organic products to clarify their use of the terms.
  • Most importantly, be a critical consumer and remember that natural is a marketing term, not a legally binding description.

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is advocating for a standard that means ingredients are both natural and safe for people. New industry standards are emerging that may help consumers differentiate between the natural and not-so-natural products.

Let’s support getting shiny, clean and fresh without the use of toxic chemicals!

"It has been my pleasure to work as a colleague of Tina Morse. Among the strengths that I have consistently observed while working with Tina (in treatment team), is her ability to balance rapid assessment of the problem to the formulation and implementation of the treatment plan, while maintaining the ability to be an empathetic and sensitive listener. Tina intuitively understands what the client struggles with in terms of family of origin issues, current stressors, emotional states, social networks, physical health, coping skills, and interpersonal conflict. I recommend her without reservation.”
