Texas Gang Rape Trial: Eric McGowen, Defendant Accused In Rapes Of Young Girl, Vanishes Following Emotional Testimony

Life Dr. Tina Morse Commented Aug 30, 2012 at 06:43:37 in Crime

Lack of Parenting and Victim Psychology: “When a young girl is abused & neglected at home, she feels alone and isolates, as she perceives that she is unworthy of support or care. She learns to dissociate from her thoughts and discomfort, and that (lack of attention to her self and to what she needs) makes her an easy target for a perpetrator.

A good parent-child relationship nurtures feelings of love and a child who trusts that their needs will be met, and that they will be heard & supported through challenges.

An 11-year-old child must NEVER be blamed for abuse by an adult, or anyone of a disparate age. This causes further trauma and damage to the victim. Any judgement as to how a person looks is just that. Girls are physiologically developing earlier than ever before. A cute dress or make-up does not cause the observer to act inappropriately. Faulty thinking and behavior does! Perpetrators of violence need to be held accountable for their actions and the harm they cause their victims. In some cases a victims parents should be held responsible, as well.

Parents that do not make time to care for their children, who don’t naturally love them and want to ensure their safety should not be allowed to keep them, and perhaps shouldn’t have had them in the first place.

Interpersonal, socio-relational education has to begin at a very young age. A lack of love, support & awareness causes ‘non-parents’ like these (of both victims & perpetrators) to breed future problems.”

"It has been my pleasure to work as a colleague of Tina Morse. Among the strengths that I have consistently observed while working with Tina (in treatment team), is her ability to balance rapid assessment of the problem to the formulation and implementation of the treatment plan, while maintaining the ability to be an empathetic and sensitive listener. Tina intuitively understands what the client struggles with in terms of family of origin issues, current stressors, emotional states, social networks, physical health, coping skills, and interpersonal conflict. I recommend her without reservation.”
